People have told me that I am intense. That I never stop thinking and that I am always going, going, going.
It’s because I have goals.
There are a few things that are essential to achieving goals. The first thing you must know is how to set attainable goals.
Goals are the vision of how you would like your life to be. Think about your ideal life.
Where do you live? The beach? The mountains? A tropical island? Where ever that may be, envision it.
It’s most likely not where you are now.
In a perfect world, how do you spend your day?
Think about all you’ve really wanted. Why don’t you have it?
Because you have not truly sought it out.
When I ask people what their goals are (if they even have any) they are vague and don’t have any time constraints. It’s no wonder that they aren’t any closer.
I wish I dated this page because it’s from over two years ago. Back then, I defined exactly what I wanted. I completely forgot about this only to see everything I took the time to envision came to fruition.
Life is an amazing gift with countless possibilities. The funny thing is that nothing ‘just happens’ to you.
You are not going to win the lottery. No one is going to just show up at your door with a giant check. The love of your life is not just going to waltz into your life.
Anything worth having will have to be sought out.
This is where goal-setting comes in.
What do you want?
What do you need to do to get it and realistically what is the fastest you can obtain it?
You may not like the answer to these questions, but you have to figure this out.
The gym is my greatest example of aggressive-long-term goal setting. I obtained the knowledge of what to do, what to eat and most importantly who I would have to become.
2 years later, I am here.
This is who I am now. First you become and then reality catches up. Not the other way around.
Did I want to be huge in 2014? Of course. But realistically 10lbs/year is pretty much the max a post-pubescent man can grow naturally.
Maybe you have a big goal. Something that would take 10 years to accomplish. That is far too much to bite off in one shot.
You have to break it down.
Break it down all the way to what you can do today, and start doing that.
I can’t be a millionaire overnight. But I can read what they read. I can emulate what they do. I can bust my ass to get a job that keeps my head above water. I can pay off all my debts that are draining me of capital. I can live below my means and stack my cash to ultimately create a business. Just like they did.
Find out what you need to know. Learn what X it takes to get your Y and then JUST DO IT
and don’t quit.
