What are your priorities?
Are they to be better, have better and to live better? Or is it to simply wish?
I wished I had a better body for a long time. Only when I made it my number one priority did it come to fruition.
I still made it to the gym when I drove 2 hours each way to work and I was a listless zombie afterward. Because it was my priority.
There was no excuse that could stop me.
With anyone else there are a million excuses.
Now I have made it a priority to get my finances in order. Better than in order. I figure that I need to learn from the best, so I’ve started reading.
Where do I find the time to read 1-3 books a week?
Facebook. Instagram. Twitter. Youtube.
Your actions, not your words, speak of your priorities. At the end of the day, you can’t lie to yourself.
Social media is no longer a priority of mine. Gaining knowledge that will help me make my life better is my priority.
I simply replaced the massive amount of time I spent on Facebook with real books.
The knowledge is more than worth being slightly ‘out of the loop.’
Except I’m not.
I go on every now and then and I realize, I didn’t ‘miss’ anything. My visits become shorter and less frequent as time goes on.
Doing this has opened my eyes to the lives of some of the most successful people on earth. This is of stark contrast to the running tally of the mediocre. I’ve learned timeless practical tips on how to make my life better and gained an entire shift in perspective, all beneath the covers of these books.
Point of view is worth 80 IQ points” –Alan Kay
Reading books will give you a perspective that is hard to find in this day and age. A long-term perspective among the sea of instant-gratification retards, there will be you. Slowly sculpting a masterpiece of a life while others abuse their youth.
But what should you read? Books about Greatness
The greatest at Health, Wealth, Love and Happiness. Why would you accept anything less? Go straight to the top. Take financial advice from billionaires, health advice from top athletes, marriage advice from people who have been together since the beginning of time and life advice from people who have been through far worse than you and still managed to triumph.
I’ll say it again accept nothing less. No mediocrity should ever enter your library. There are already hundreds of millions of average people who walk around every day. The world doesn’t need any more of them. Pay them no mind.
I’m sure a bum on the street can tell you whole lot about life, but I wouldn’t take his advice even if you paid me.
Read the biographies of great men. These are the instruction manuals of the successful.
Read with a pen, mark what you like – and read it again.
This will reinforce the ideas, habits and mindsets of greats. Beat them into your head until you can recite them verbatim.
I suggest cutting out social media, news, youtube, tv. It’ll be pretty easy. You won’t have time for them. Then one day, after this little bit of societal isolation, you’ll run into a normal person. Talking to them will show you just how much dogma has been programmed into them.
I tell people that I eat 6 eggs a day. They flip shit and tell me my cholesterol must be out of control.
They’re wrong. My bloodwork is just fine, thank you. They bought into the bullshit. They didn’t dig any deeper than the surface to uncover the truth. They just accepted what they saw. Or more likely, what they were told.
I tell them I want to live a debt-free life doing whatever the hell I feel like and their eyes just glaze over.
I give beginners work out advice and they flat out ignore me. Even though my body speaks for itself.
I realize that trying to convince these people that everything they know is a lie is a futile effort.
As Morpheus said in The Matrix “…You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.”
But if you’re here, you want to be unplugged.
So what are your priorities? Staying up to date on the latest gossip? Seeing every movie? Getting drunk? Sleeping around?
Or do you desire more?
